About Rock-type Pokémon

Rock types are the slowest of any type on average, and among the heaviest. The type shares the record for most weaknesses, five, with Grass: Water, Grass, Fighting, Ground, and Steel all hit it for double damage. In return it resists Normal, Fire, Poison, and Flying moves. On offense, Rock moves are super effective against Fire, Ice, Flying, and Bug.

The generator above draws only from Pokémon with Rock as one of their types, dual types included.

Rock-type Pokémon by the numbers

Of the 74 Rock-type Pokémon, 17 are pure Rock and 57 have a second type. The most common pairing is Rock/Water (11 Pokémon), followed by Ground (9) and Steel (7). 3 of them are legendary or mythical, including Regirock, Terrakion and Diancie.

By base stat total, the strongest Rock-type Pokémon that isn't legendary or mythical is Tyranitar (600). The fastest is Aerodactyl, with a base Speed of 130. The heaviest is Stakataka at 820 kg, and the lightest is Minior at 0.3 kg. Among pure Rock types, the highest base stat totals belong to Regirock (580), Gigalith (515), Garganacl (500), Rampardos (495) and Lycanroc (487).

Generation 3 introduced the most Rock-type Pokémon, 12. Counts use each Pokémon's current typing, so a species that gained or changed a type in a later game is counted under its present types.

Rock moves on offense

Rock-type moves are super effective against Fire, Ice, Flying and Bug, not very effective against Fighting, Ground and Steel. No type is immune to them.

What are Rock-type Pokémon weak to?

Rock has 5 weaknesses: Rock-type Pokémon take super-effective damage from Water, Grass, Fighting, Ground and Steel moves, but resist Normal, Fire, Poison and Flying. For a dual type, the type calculator combines both types' matchups.
