About Ghost-type Pokémon

Ghost is the only type with two immunities, to Normal and Fighting moves, and its own moves cannot touch Normal types in return. Its history includes one of the series' best-known bugs: in Generation 1, Ghost moves were meant to be super effective against Psychic but had no effect on it. Generation 2 fixed that, and Generation 6 made Ghost moves stronger again by removing Steel's resistance to them.

The generator above draws only from Pokémon with Ghost as one of their types, dual types included.

Spin the random Pokémon wheel, add more filters on the full random Pokémon generator, or try a legendary Pokémon generator or a shiny Pokémon generator. And if you like this type's spookier side, the games themselves go further than you'd expect — see the creepiest official Pokédex entries, several of which belong to Ghost-types.

Ghost-type Pokémon by the numbers

Of the 65 Ghost-type Pokémon, 16 are pure Ghost and 49 have a second type. The most common pairing is Ghost/Grass (10 Pokémon), followed by Fire (6) and Ground (5). 6 of them are legendary or mythical, including Giratina, Hoopa, Lunala, Marshadow and 2 more.

By base stat total, the strongest Ghost-type Pokémon that isn't legendary or mythical is Dragapult (600); counting legendaries, it's Giratina (680). The fastest is Dragapult, with a base Speed of 142. The heaviest is Giratina at 750 kg, and the lightest is Haunter at 0.1 kg. Among pure Ghost types, the highest base stat totals belong to Spectrier (580), Dusknoir (525), Cursola (510), Polteageist (508) and Mismagius (495).

Generation 9 introduced the most Ghost-type Pokémon, 13. Counts use each Pokémon's current typing, so a species that gained or changed a type in a later game is counted under its present types.

Ghost moves on offense

Ghost-type moves are super effective against Psychic and Ghost, not very effective against Dark, and have no effect at all on Normal.

What are Ghost-type Pokémon weak to?

Ghost has 2 weaknesses: Ghost-type Pokémon take super-effective damage from Ghost and Dark moves, but resist Poison and Bug and are completely immune to Normal and Fighting. For a dual type, the type calculator combines both types' matchups.
