Random Pokémon Name Generator
Draw a real Pokémon name at random — or invent brand-new Fakemon names built from the same word roots the official games use.
How Pokémon names actually work
Almost every official name is two ideas smashed together: char (burnt) + lizard gives Charizard, bulb + dinosaur gives Bulbasaur, and squirrel + turtle gives Squirtle. The Fakemon mode copies that recipe: it combines a type-flavored word root (like Frost-, Volt-, or Phanta-) with a classic Pokémon-style ending (-izard, -eon, -ling) and smooths the join so the result rolls off the tongue.
Same name in, same name out
Type your own name (or anything else) into the seed box and the generator becomes deterministic: the same input always produces the same six names. That makes it a fun "what's your Pokémon name?" game to compare with friends — leave the box empty for pure randomness instead.
Using the names
- Fakemon artists — name your original creature designs, or work backwards: generate a name first and draw whatever it suggests.
- Nicknames— a fresh in-game nickname that still sounds "Pokémon".
- Fan fiction & games— original species names that won't collide with the real 1,025.
