About Dragon-type Pokémon

Dragon types are the strongest on paper: they have the highest average base stat total and the highest average weight of any type, and 14 of the 70 are legendary or mythical. Dragon moves are super effective only against other Dragon types. Before Generation 6, only Ice and Dragon moves were super effective against Dragons; Generation 6 added Fairy, a type that is immune to Dragon moves and hits Dragon types super effectively.

The generator above draws only from Pokémon with Dragon as one of their types, dual types included.

Spin the spinning Pokémon wheel, add more filters on the random generator with every filter, or try a random legendary or mythical pick or a shiny preview.

Dragon-type Pokémon by the numbers

Of the 70 Dragon-type Pokémon, 13 are pure Dragon and 57 have a second type. The most common pairing is Dragon/Flying (6 Pokémon), followed by Ground (6) and Dark (5). 14 of them are legendary or mythical, including Latias, Latios, Rayquaza, Dialga and 10 more.

By base stat total, the strongest Dragon-type Pokémon that isn't legendary or mythical is Dragonite (600); counting legendaries, it's Eternatus (690). The fastest is Dragapult, with a base Speed of 142. The heaviest is Eternatus at 950 kg, and the lightest is Applin at 0.5 kg. Among pure Dragon types, the highest base stat totals belong to Goodra (600), Regidrago (580), Haxorus (540), Druddigon (485) and Sliggoo (452).

Generation 9 introduced the most Dragon-type Pokémon, 14. Counts use each Pokémon's current typing, so a species that gained or changed a type in a later game is counted under its present types.

Dragon moves on offense

Dragon-type moves are super effective against Dragon, not very effective against Steel, and have no effect at all on Fairy.

What are Dragon-type Pokémon weak to?

Dragon has 3 weaknesses: Dragon-type Pokémon take super-effective damage from Ice, Dragon and Fairy moves, but resist Fire, Water, Electric and Grass. For a dual type, the type calculator combines both types' matchups.
