About Electric-type Pokémon

Electric types are fast. Their average base Speed is the second-highest of any type, behind only Flying. Half of the 69 Electric Pokémon are pure Electric, the second-highest share after Normal. The type has just one weakness, Ground, and Ground types are also the one type Electric moves cannot touch at all. On offense, Electric is super effective against only Water and Flying, so an Electric type usually wants a coverage move for everything else.

The generator above draws only from Pokémon with Electric as one of their types, dual types included.

Electric-type Pokémon by the numbers

Of the 69 Electric-type Pokémon, 35 are pure Electric and 34 have a second type. The most common pairing is Electric/Flying (5 Pokémon), followed by Bug (4) and Dragon (4). 8 of them are legendary or mythical, including Zapdos, Raikou, Thundurus, Zekrom and 4 more.

By base stat total, the strongest Electric-type Pokémon that isn't legendary or mythical is Raging Bolt (590); counting legendaries, it's Zekrom (680). The fastest is Regieleki, with a base Speed of 200. The heaviest is Raging Bolt at 480 kg, and the lightest is Tynamo at 0.3 kg. Among pure Electric types, the highest base stat totals belong to Zeraora (600), Raikou (580), Regieleki (580), Xurkitree (570) and Electivire (540).

Generation 9 introduced the most Electric-type Pokémon, 12. Counts use each Pokémon's current typing, so a species that gained or changed a type in a later game is counted under its present types.

Every Electric typing and its Pokémon

Electric appears in 15 different typings (standard forms only):

  • Electric/Flying (5): Zapdos, Emolga, Thundurus, Wattrel and Kilowattrel
  • Electric/Bug (4): Joltik, Galvantula, Charjabug and Vikavolt
  • Electric/Dragon (4): Zekrom, Dracozolt, Miraidon and Raging Bolt

  • Electric/Normal (2): Helioptile and Heliolisk
  • Electric/Poison (2): Toxel and Toxtricity
  • Electric/Water (2): Chinchou and Lanturn
  • Electric/Dark (1): Morpeko
  • Electric/Ghost (1): Rotom
  • Electric/Ice (1): Arctozolt
  • Electric/Rock (1): Iron Thorns

4 of these typings belong to a single Pokémon each: Morpeko is the only Electric/Dark, Rotom is the only Electric/Ghost, Arctozolt is the only Electric/Ice and Iron Thorns is the only Electric/Rock.

Electric moves on offense

Electric-type moves are super effective against Water and Flying, not very effective against Electric, Grass and Dragon, and have no effect at all on Ground.

What are Electric-type Pokémon weak to?

Electric has one weakness: Electric-type Pokémon take super-effective damage from Ground moves, but resist Electric, Flying and Steel. For a dual type, the type calculator combines both types' matchups.
