About Fighting-type Pokémon

Fighting moves are super effective against five types, tied with Ground for the most: Normal, Ice, Rock, Dark, and Steel. That offensive reach is the type's main strength. Fighting types are also strong on average, ranking third for base stat total out of all 18 types. The limits are Ghost types, which Fighting moves cannot hit at all, and Flying, Psychic, and Fairy, which are all super effective against it.

The generator above draws only from Pokémon with Fighting as one of their types, dual types included.

Fighting-type Pokémon by the numbers

Of the 73 Fighting-type Pokémon, 28 are pure Fighting and 45 have a second type. The most common pairing is Fighting/Fire (6 Pokémon), followed by Bug (4) and Dark (4). 10 of them are legendary or mythical, including Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion, Keldeo and 6 more.

By base stat total, the strongest Fighting-type Pokémon that isn't legendary or mythical is Kommo-o (600); counting legendaries, it's Koraidon (670). The fastest is Pheromosa, with a base Speed of 151. The heaviest is Iron Hands at 380.7 kg, and the lightest is Clobbopus at 4 kg. Among pure Fighting types, the highest base stat totals belong to Zamazenta (660), Mienshao (510), Sirfetch’d (507), Machamp (505) and Conkeldurr (505).

Generation 5 introduced the most Fighting-type Pokémon, 15. Counts use each Pokémon's current typing, so a species that gained or changed a type in a later game is counted under its present types.

Fighting moves on offense

Fighting-type moves are super effective against Normal, Ice, Rock, Dark and Steel, not very effective against Poison, Flying, Psychic, Bug and Fairy, and have no effect at all on Ghost.

What are Fighting-type Pokémon weak to?

Fighting has 3 weaknesses: Fighting-type Pokémon take super-effective damage from Flying, Psychic and Fairy moves, but resist Bug, Rock and Dark. For a dual type, the type calculator combines both types' matchups.
